Meet Morrison's 2022 Class of Interns

Morrison Container Handling Solutions is proud to introduce our 2022 Class of Interns.

These 10 smart and intelligent individuals are doing everything here at Morrison. They are very eager to learn about what makes Morrison a successful and efficient manufacturer. This group of individuals have done such a great job and have cemented themselves as part of the Morrison team. 

At Morrison Container Handling Solutions, we offer a variety of internships in all of our different departments. We make sure to get our interns involved with as many projects as possible to provide a hands on experience to test and apply their knowledge into the workplace. We don't shy away from providing our interns with great learning experience and we love when they excel. Manufacturing Engineering Intern

UNIVERSITY: Purdue University Northwest

MAJOR: Mechanical Engineering

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Senior

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Production

HOBBY: Working on cars

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Learning more about programming in the CNC machines.

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I've learned things from a different perspective and It has allowed me to see how the machine actually operates.

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: Trying to learn how things actually work so you can turn a model into a make.

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  Learning how to us CAM programming. 

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: I'm working on twists on the KOMO machines. 

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: I learn something new every time I come. I've learned a lot about developing and manufacturing things. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: It's a field that everyone uses every day. You get to see the end product of your projects and get to see how those are implemented into the real world. 

 

Engineering Intern

UNIVERSITY: Michigan State University

MAJOR: Mechanical Engineering

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Freshman

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Engineering

HOBBY: Playing Video Games

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Developing and integrating skills I'm currently learning into the engineering department.

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I've been gaining a lot of experience when it comes to the actual design in the engineering department. 

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I'm excited to develop a better understanding of engineering as a whole. 

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  I would like to develop good teamwork skills. 

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: Two timing screw drive units.

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: I enjoy being hands on and being able to solve problems all the way through. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: Learning about the technology that Morrison uses and how they use that technology to improve the company's efficiency. 

 

Manufacturing Intern

UNIVERSITY: Purdue University Northwest

HOBBY: Ice Hockey

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Creating and having my hands on new CAMS. I really enjoy the hands on experience here at Morrison.

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I’ve learned to continue asking questions because someone is willing to give you an answer. Always be efficient and makes sure you are always being careful.

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I would love to learn how to weld. I like stuff and things, things are cool.

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A: Better communication and recognizing that I am allowed to ask for help to fully understand the processes I’m working on.

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: I'm working on setting up the floor plan for the safety areas around the workshop.

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: There is always something new that you are learning every day you come to work.

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: My favorite thing about this industry is that it is always changing and there is always something new to learn.

 

IT Intern

UNIVERSITY: Purdue University Northwest

MAJOR: Computer Information Technology

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Senior

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: IT

HOBBY: Playing video games

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Getting experience in all of the different fields. You do a lot of different things here and it allows me to gain a lot of experience along the way. 

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: A program called PowerApps. It is a program that helps you create programs and various mobile apps. 

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: Learning the program inventor and how I can use that program to assist engineers. 

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  The language visual basic.

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: Creating an inventory system for IT. This is a database that holds all of Morrisons information and quickly sends it to an app. 

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: My co-workers - everyone here is very nice and I work with an old colleague.

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: Seeing all of the assembly lines and automation that they do here. It is a very cool experience to see the process that Morrison has. 

 

Manufacturing Engineer Intern

UNIVERSITY: Iowa State

MAJOR: Mechanical Engineering

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Junior

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Engineering

HOBBY: Hanging out with friends

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Learning real world skills that will apply to my degree. 

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: A lot about CAD. I've also learned that teamwork is very important in engineering.

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I'm excited to keep learning about the machines I'm currently working on. I think the drive systems are very interesting. 

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  CAD/designing skills and also connecting with the customer while improving my soft skills. 

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: I am currently working on a metering system, but in general, I am working on standard drive systems. 

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: When I am able to design the system. I am constantly challenged by projects and it makes the day go by very fast. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: I think it is very interesting that there are so many containers which means there are multiple different ways you have to do each container. I also like that you might have a good idea, but someone else will have an even better idea. 

 

Manufacturing Intern

UNIVERSITY: Purdue University Northwest

MAJOR: Mechanical Engineering Technologies

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Junior

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Production

HOBBY: Fish Keeping

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Learning as much as I can, whether that is through hands on experience or just knowledge in the work place.

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I've developed good communication skills.

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I'm excited to learn CNC Programming.

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  Getting more hands on experience with everything in my work environment.

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: Simple CNC runs. They give you a list of 270 parts that you have to run.

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: The way the workplace is set up and how clean the workplace is. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: I like how everything is streamlined and has a set point. Everything is efficient and is done in a unique way. 

 

Controls Intern

UNIVERSITY: Valparaiso University

MAJOR: Electrical Engineering

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Sophomore

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Engineering

HOBBY: Playing golf and guitar

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: The experience and the chance to learn this stuff before learning it in the classroom.

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I have learned how to wire A/C and D/C motors. I have also learned how to program PLCs.

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I am excited to design customer orders and the process it takes when taking care of an order. 

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  Engineering, control skills, designing, and putting together panels.

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: I am helping to make a control panel for a rotary machine.

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: The fact that I'm getting paid to learn.

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: I think it's cool to be able to create a panel that will be controlling so many different things. It's gratifying.

 

Engineering Intern

UNIVERSITY: Anderson University

MAJOR: Mechanical Engineering

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Senior

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Engineering

HOBBY: Cars

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: Being able to get experience that I wouldn't have otherwise. 

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: Taking skills I have learned in the classroom and incorporating those skills into the workplace. 

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I really like working on big jobs that take a lot of time. I enjoy looking back at the end result, and I am excited to do that here at Morrison. 

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  I would like to develop a higher level of communication skills. 

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: I am currently working on entirely making parts carts in house.

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: I was eager to learn and was immediately put on many different jobs. They do not treat you like just an intern here. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: Your parameters are very stringent. You are required to commit to a job that needs to be done by the end of the week. This allows me to learn and gain the most experience.

 

Marketing/HR Intern

UNIVERSITY: Ball State University

MAJOR: Business Administration

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Senior

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Marketing

HOBBY: Video Games

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: I look forward to gaining a lot of experience in the marketing field, while also gaining some experience in manufacturing. 

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I have learned how to analyze our website data and recognize the different marketing segments we have. I have also worked with Morrisons Salesman and helped them identify their target customers. 

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: I am excited to learn how to develop games in Unreal Engine. 

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  I want to develop good communication and adaptability skills. I want to be able to adapt to different marketing trends effectively, since they are changing every day. 

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: I am currently working on a video production project that requires me to record, develop, and edit Morrisons marketing videos. 

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: I love how friendly everyone is and the different things you learn every day. I talk to co-workers about what they are currently working on and it always teaches me something new. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: I like seeing behind the scenes of how we get our products in stores. Before working for Morrison, I would have never thought of how we actually create the products we see around the world. 

 

Manufacturing Intern

Pursuing: Studying for my GED and then pursuing a degree in Psychology

MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Production

HOBBY: Producing Music

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?  

A: I'm excited to be able to get hired and gain some skills necessary to move forward.

Q: What is something you have already learned being here? 

A: I've learned CNC operation skills and gained experience working on the floor. I have had a lot of hands on experience here and it has taught me how the product is developed down to the last detail. 

Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?  

A: Getting my CDL.

Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?  

A:  My number one skill I would like to develop is the CNC operation to gain value as an employee.

Q: What current projects are you working on?  

A: Making the timing screws. I need to make sure the screws are smooth and ready for customers.

Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?  

A: I like coming in and learning everything while taking my time to master things. I like that they put you right to work, but they don't rush you here. They give you time to learn and master some vital skills. 

Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?  

A: I like how immersive the experience is. I also like seeing how we help other companies and make jobs easier for them.
