Through testing, [Hamrick Packaging Systems](https://www.hamrickmfg.com/) discovered that when the spouts were not all in the same direction, they would topple over, which leads to a variety of throughput problems. If only they could be oriented for straws to face in the same direction, they would be able to handle the product at higher speed going into the case. Out of this, a partnership with Morrison Container Handling Solutions and Hamrick Packaging Systems was born. “Anytime our customers are looking to run higher speeds with our case packers, we look to Morrison to provide container handling and stability ahead of our equipment,” Jordan Hamrick, President of Hamrick Packaging Systems, said. “This helps us provide continuous throughput and a better solution for our customers.” Hamrick Packaging Systems, located in Mogadore, Ohio, began working with Morrison in 2019 on orientation applications prior to their case packers. For lower speed applications, you’ll often find turning belts and starwheels prior to a case packer, but to meet higher production speeds, these solutions begin to pose problems for the application. “We generally go to timing screw-controlled systems when we need to achieve higher speeds than what a turning belt or starwheel can provide,” Jordan said. “When we need to have higher control of the container feeding the case packer or providing continuous throughput, it’s better to be timing screw controlled.” Morrison partners with OEMs in every area of the packaging industry on a variety of projects.
