This year, Morrison carefully selected a team of six individuals who have genuine interest and enthusiasm in understanding the fundamental factors contributing to Morrison's success. Our interns jump in and work on real projects that have real results.

Engineering Intern

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to learning more about being an engineer and using AutoCAD.

A: I have learned about the process of releasing a design to manufacturing and utilizing AutoCAD.

A: I am excited to delve into seeing my designs being manufactured and testing them.

A: I wish to develop teamwork skills and better AutoCAD skills.

A: I learn something new every day.

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: Learning more about the process of manufacturing and design.

A: Experience in the processes behind how we design and the reasoning for these processes.

A: The new concepts of a different department.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I would like to improve my ability to reverse engineer and break down designs.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: Change parts order and designing parts carts.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I enjoy being hands on and being able to solve problems all the way through.

A: Learning about all of the different technology that goes into the production of everyday items.

HOBBY: Working on my car.
Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to observing and participating in the process of creating marketing materials for Morrison.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I have learned many new skills including the Adobe Cloud applications and how to utilize them in creating marketing material.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to learn more about how the Morrison products work and the process behind creating the products.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I wish to further improve my communication skills with my coworkers along with learning how to use different marketing applications.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: At the moment, I am working on creating material for a campaign on our high-speed can opener.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: My favorite part about coming to work is that everyday is different. There is always something to work on whether we need to film something on the production floor or create material to post on our website and social media platforms.

A: Something I like about the packaging industry is that it is always improving and making operations more efficient.

Production Intern

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Incoming freshman, graduating 2027.
MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Assembly
HOBBY: Working on my car, welding, hanging out with friends among other things.
Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: Making money and learning along the way.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: How to install a roto-fuse clutch.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to hear that I’ll probably get a chance to help assemble some of the bigger jobs here this summer.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I’d like to get some more experience in welding and machining while I’m here because both of those fields also interest me.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: At Morrison, just assembling jobs, but at hom,e my car as well as a whatever is going on in the home shop tends to take up my time.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: Making money doing something I enjoy.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: Everything is clean in comparison to the last industry I worked in.

HOBBY: Working on motorcycles.
Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I look forward into advancing my skill in CNC machining/ programming.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I’ve learned how to use Mazatrol programming to optimize part production and programming.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: Being able to grow my skills within different departments at Morrison.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: Learning to use inventor cam to create tool paths on complex geometry on some of our parts.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently working on optimizing live tooling on Y-axis lathes to create parts faster with less operations.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: Being able to advance my skills every day in CNC machining.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: I enjoy seeing final assembles of machines running, knowing the work that went into designing and creating all of the components.

A: Being able to advance my skill in manufacturing.

A: I have learned how to operate a lathe.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to learn how to make my use of the lathe more efficient.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: While I am working at Morrison this summer I hope to improve my lathe skills and cnc machining.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: Currently, I am creating timing screw blanks.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I enjoy coming to work everyday and learning more about blanking and how to become more efficient.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: Something I admire about the packaging industry is that there are always more modern and efficient ways to package products.

Mechanical Engineer Intern to Employee
Caleigh originally joined the Morrison team as an intern and has recently transitioned into a full-time engineering position.
A: I just finished working on the design for the following jobs: ProSys - This machine is a custom machine that accepts a single lane of containers that are inverted from horizontal to vertical and indexed for filling, then discharged upright. Hamrick - This machine is a standard machine that will turn oil containers 90 degrees and discharge them at pitch. This system is different because it utilizes large timing screws (10” OD x 46” length). To summarize, each job is slightly different and requires a certain element specific to the customer. I think this aspect is very cool and keeps the work interesting instead of doing the same thing every day.
Q: How does your current position align with your long-term career goals? In what ways does it provide opportunities for growth and development?A: My current position aligns well with what I have planned for my long-term career goals. My goal throughout college was to get as many internships as possible to learn as much as I can about what life would be like working as an engineer. After completing three internships, this one was by far my favorite and most rewarding. I really enjoy working at Morrison and I learn something new every day. I am surrounded by very motivated and intelligent people who push me to be better. I am constantly learning and growing as I work through challenges that I face with each project. Every project is new and different and with each one comes its own learning curve. As I continue to develop my skills and move towards more custom machines, I feel that I can learn something new from each one.
Q: What aspects of working in the packaging industry do you find particularly appealing or interesting?A: The most interesting thing about working in the packaging industry is that there are so many different shapes and sizes of containers. Our products are centered around container handling and as engineers we must find the best way to handle each container no matter how unique or different it may be. The most appealing part about working in the packaging industry is utilizing timing screws to develop a design that best fits our customers’ needs.
Q: Are there any additional skills or knowledge you are looking forward to acquiring in your new full-time role? How do you plan to pursue those learning opportunities?A: During my internship I was exposed to many kinds of projects such as standard machines, custom machines, conveyor upgrades, and more. I thought this was helpful because it gave me a fairly good idea of all the different types of projects that we do at Morrison. I’m most excited about using what I learned on those first few projects to complete the next project at a faster rate. My goal is to learn more about the production process and how the manufacturing process works. I plan to spend some time learning the process from a few people who work out there on a day-to-day basis.
Q: What advice or insights would you give to future interns who may be interested in pursuing a full-time position within the company?Controls Engineer Intern to Employee

A: There are several aspects of working in the packaging industry that I find particularly appealing and interesting. The aspects that captivate my enthusiasm and contribute to my passion for this field include Innovation and creativity, Continuous improvement.
Q: Are there any additional skills or knowledge you are looking forward to acquiring in your new full-time role? How do you plan to pursue those learning opportunities?A: I am enthusiastic about gaining additional skills and knowledge that will contribute to my professional growth. In this field there are a few areas I am excited to learn more about, some of which include HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and electrical safety.
Q: What advice or insights would you give to future interns who may be interested in pursuing a full-time position within the company?
